I am an incoming Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership at Georgia State University, in the Department of Educational Policy Studies. Prior to that, I was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Education. I use mixed and qualitative research methods to illuminate 1) how Black leaders and educators create affirming learning environments for Black students, and 2) what leaders do to engage Black families and communities in school and district decision-making. I earned my Ph.D. in English (Literacy) Education and Educational Leadership and Policy from Columbia University as a Provost Doctoral Fellow.
